A contingent comprising eight athletes and four officials from Nagaland departed on January 2, 2026, for Daman and Diu to participate in the second edition of the Khelo India Beach Games 2026, scheduled to be held at Ghoghla Beach in Diu from January 5 to 11, 2026.
The national-level beach sports event is being organised by the Sports Authority of India and supported by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, with the objective of promoting beach sports and providing a competitive platform for athletes from across the country.
The Pencak Silat athletes representing Nagaland are Kitenlo K. Thono, Jon, Vitope Sheqi, A. Vipu Assumi, Hinokali, Nyia K. Thono, Avikali V. Sheqi, and Hatneinem Khongsai. They are accompanied by team officials Deep Kumar, Kevin, and Alice, along with Technical Referee Liike Kibami.
The athletes have undergone focused preparation, with particular emphasis on sand-based competition techniques, which are a key feature of the Khelo India Beach Games. The officials will provide coaching guidance, team management, and technical supervision throughout the event.
The Nagaland Pencak Silat Association expressed gratitude to the Director of Youth Resources and Sports, Government of Nagaland, Shri Kethosituo Sekhose, and his department for the support and arrangements made towards the participation of the state contingent in the national event.
