To enhance efficiency, the Nagaland Police have introduced an online system for submitting complaints about stolen vehicles and lost or stolen mobile phones. This initiative aims to ensure timely action and effective supervision of such cases, facilitating the recovery of stolen or lost items.

“Thefts are often motivated by the resale value of these items. There have been instances of the public purchasing stolen goods, frequently unaware that they are proceeds of crime,” said the Nagaland Police.

The police also noted that a database will be created in the future, allowing the public to check online before buying second-hand items. This database is expected to serve as a deterrent to theft.

The public is encouraged to submit complaints online, in addition to physical complaints at police stations, which will still be necessary for insurance claims.
