Kohima, February 16 (MTNews): In order to monitor guests in the hotels and guest houses in Nagaland, Director General of Police Nagaland, Rupin Sharma on Wednesday launched the Nagaland Police Hotel Check-in portal.
Sharma, during the launching program said the system has been digitized in order to provide a hassle-free, paper-free and quick access to information about suspected movements among the visitors.
He hoped that this will upgrade the Police Department in keeping vigil among the people visiting hotels and guesthouses, not only during the election time, but in the future too.
“It is not an imposition on the privacy of the guests, but it is mandatory by law for hotels and guesthouses to provide basic data of the people staying in their establishments,” the DGP clarified.
Stating this, Sharma said the system will also make the state more secure as now people will be hesitant to stay in hotels and guesthouses under fake identities or without proper and verified documents.
He urged all hoteliers to make the best use of the facility to safeguard their establishments against unwanted and illegal activities.
Besides hotels, the system has been designed to be accessed by three levels: the district level, state level and the police station level. The system can be accessed through the portal www.nglphotelcheckin.com. Under the system, hotels will be required to register on the site with a valid email address and submit the details of all the guests on a daily basis including a photo of the ID card.
