The Nagaland Police Badminton Team delivered an impressive performance at the 1st All India Police Badminton Cluster (Badminton and Table Tennis) 2024-25, held in Kochi, Kerala, from April 11 to 15, 2025. The team, comprising 11 members including seven male and four female officers competed in various categories and brought home several accolades.

The team was led by A/C Joseph Sumi as the team manager. Other team members included Dy. CO Vekhrolo Koza, Dy. SP Emmanuel Shohe, Dy. SP Solomon C Anar, ABI Imlirenla Jamir, ABSI Tajenkaba Ao, ABSI Bendangnaro, Hav. Raju Chetri, Hav. Uma Tamang, Hav. Imliwapang Tzudir, and C/N Pulei Konyak.
Nagaland Police emerged as the runners-up in the overall badminton tournament.
Joseph Sumi was a standout performer, clinching the title of Badminton Individual Player of the Tournament (Male). He also won the Gazetted Officers (GO) Men’s Open, GO Men’s Open 45+, and the GO Men’s Doubles Open titles along with Emmanuel Shohe.

The women’s team secured a bronze medal in the team event. In the Non Gazetted Officers (NGO) category, Tajenkaba Ao and Raju Chetri won the Men’s Open Doubles 45+, while Tajenkaba Ao and Imlirenla Jamir took the Mixed Doubles Open 45+ title. Imlirenla Jamir also emerged as the NGO Women’s Singles 45+ Champion.
Mizoram Police team emerged as the overall champion of the first All India Police Badminton Cluster 2024-2025 was the first time that badminton and table tennis were being held together as a combined cluster.
A total of 1,033 athletes representing 43 teams from across the country, including police officers from different states and union territories including Andaman Nicobar Island and from forces such as Assam Rifles, BPR&D, BSF, CISF, CRPF, IB, ITBP, NDRF, NSG, CGO, RPF and SSB. Among them were 825 men and 208 women, competing in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles categories in both badminton and table tennis.
