The Department of Power, in collaboration with M/s Nagaland Smart Metering Private Ltd. (NSMPL), will commence the installation of smart prepayment meters across urban and rural areas of the state from February.

In a press release, the department stated that the transition to smart meters in prepayment mode offers multiple benefits, including enhanced consumer satisfaction through better control over electricity usage, elimination of issues related to delayed or incorrect billing, and reduction in power outages caused by unregulated electricity consumption.

“In this regard, all esteemed consumers are requested to cooperate with the department and M/s NSMPL for successful implementation of the programme,” the department stated.
