Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Wednesday met Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri in New Delhi and discussed key development initiatives, including the resumption of petroleum exploration and production in the state.
Deputy Chief Ministers Y Patton and TR Zeliang were also present during the meeting.
In a social media post on X, Rio said the meeting focused on key initiatives for Nagaland’s development, particularly the revival of petroleum exploration and production activities in the state.
He described the discussions as constructive.
Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, in a post on X, said he was “delighted” to welcome the Chief Minister of Nagaland and noted that discussions focused on transforming the Northeast into a key pillar of India’s energy future.
He said unlocking the region’s hydrocarbon potential would create new opportunities for growth and investment, while strengthening the country’s energy security under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
