Mokokchung, June 23 (MTNews): Nagaland Public Rights Awareness and Action Forum (NPRAAF) has reiterated its call to the Social Welfare Department to comply with the Centre’s rules and Supreme Court directives tied to the Supplementary Nutritional Program Integrated Child Development Services flagship scheme.

In a press release, NPRAAF alleged that the department continued to flout the rules by unilaterally and arbitrarily allowing contractors to supply unhealthy and unhygienic food items, adding that it violated the Central Vigilance Commission Guidelines by illegally renewing contract of suppliers after expiry of term, without calling for legitimate e-tendering.

In the light of this, NPRAAF has demanded that the department make public various matters, including the number of beneficiaries in different categories and fund allocated district-wise from 2020 to 2022, and whether they were certified by the relevant authorities.

NPRAAF cautioned it would initiate appropriate legal and democratic action if the department failed to address the issue within 20 days. The Forum added it would soon make more shocking and sensational disclosures of the department’s misuse of public fund with corroborated evidence.
