Mokokchug, December 15 (MTNews): The North East Council and the North East Road sector Development Scheme (NERSDS) disbursed funds amounting to Rs.126,313 crores to various states of the north east during the last three years. During 2019-20, a total of Rs. 1243.28 crores were disbursed while R. 852.52 crores were disbursed in 2020-21. The total amount disbursed in 2021-22 was Rs. 1133.27 crores.

 

For Nagaland, the total disbursed amount was Rs.36.91 crore in 2019-20 and Rs. 35.63 crore in 2020-21 which was enhanced to Rs. 239.74 crore in 2021-22, accounting for a total of Rs.312.28 crore.

 

Concurrently, the total length of roads constructed, upgraded or rehabilitated under the Schemes of NEC & NERSDS since inception was 11378.88 Kms, including 1806.45 Kms in Nagaland. North East Road Sector Development Scheme was launched during the Financial Year 2015-16.

 

This information was given by Minister of Development of North Eastern Region, G. Kishan Reddy in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today.

 

The objective of the North East Road sector Development Scheme (NERSDS) is to take up rehabilitation, construction or upgradation of various categories of roads including bridges on the roads in the North Eastern Region (NER).
