Nagaland has been sanctioned 12 projects worth Rs 381.50 crore under the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS) during the last two financial years and the current financial year up to January 31, 2026.

According to information placed in the Rajya Sabha, a total of 82 projects costing Rs 4,703.81 crore have been sanctioned across the Northeast under NESIDS in FY 2023-24, FY 2024-25 and FY 2025-26.

NESIDS, a Central Sector Scheme under the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, was approved in 2017-18 and restructured in 2022-23 into two components, NESIDS Roads and NESIDS Other Than Roads Infrastructure.

Under the scheme, State Level Empowered Committees recommend projects based on priorities and infrastructure gaps. The Roads component focuses on creation of assets such as roads and bridges, while the Other Than Roads component covers sectors including health care, education, water supply, industrial development, sports and telecom.

The Ministry monitors implementation through periodic reviews, inspections and third party technical inspection agencies to ensure timely completion of projects.

The information was provided by Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region Dr Sukanta Majumdar in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.
