A team of researchers led by Dr. Viheno Iralu, Assistant Professor at Nagaland University, and Dr. Meguovilie Sachu, Biochemist at the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, Kohima, Government of Nagaland, has been selected to participate in the Sakura Science Exchange Program 2025, to be held in Japan from October 26 to November 1, 2025. The delegation will visit prominent universities and research institutions across Okayama, Kyoto, Kurashiki, and Osaka as part of the scientific and cultural exchange initiative.

The team includes six other young researchers representing various scientific disciplines. Fully funded by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) under the Sakura Science Exchange Program and hosted by Prof. Takahashi Yuichiro of Okayama University, the program aims to promote international collaboration, innovation, and mutual understanding between Japan and other Asian countries through short-term academic exchanges.

During the visit, participants will attend lectures, engage in laboratory visits, interact with Japanese researchers, and take part in cultural immersion activities. These experiences are expected to strengthen academic cooperation and inspire young researchers from Nagaland to pursue global scientific engagement and innovation.
