Nagaland seeks NERPC support for key power projects

Nagaland has sought stronger central support for key power sector projects, raising the issue with the North Eastern Regional Power Committee (NERPC) during a meeting held in Shillong on Tuesday.

KG Kenye, Minister for Power and Parliamentary Affairs, with Principal Secretary Dr KD Vizo and officials during a meeting with Metbah Lyngdoh, Chairman of NERPC, in Shillong on April 28.

Nagaland Minister for Power and Parliamentary Affairs KG Kenye, accompanied by Principal Secretary Dr KD Vizo and other department officials, met Meghalaya Power Minister and Chairman of the North Eastern Regional Power Committee, Metbah Lyngdoh, to press for the state’s proposals.

During the meeting, Kenye requested the Chairman to recommend various projects submitted by the Power Department of the Government of Nagaland. According to an official update, the NERPC chairman welcomed the delegation and assured that the issues raised by the Nagaland Power Department would be taken up with the Ministry of Power.

The update also stated that an overall scenario of the funding patterns for projects, in line with the changes in the policy of the Ministry of Power, was presented by NERPC Secretary Lyngkhoi.
