Dimapur, 13 October (MTNews): The Nagaland Athletics Association has announced that the Nagaland Senior Open Athletics Championships 2023 will take place on November 16th and 17th at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima. All indigenous inhabitants of Nagaland are eligible to participate. For inquiries, interested athletes have been asked to visit Nagaland Athletics’ social media channels.
The competition will feature various events for both men and women, including 100m, Long Jump, 200m, High Jump, 400m, Triple Jump, 800m, Shot Put, 1500m, Discus, 5000m, Javelin, and 10000m.
Athletes must register online via a Google form, with a registration fee of Rs 100 per event. Each athlete can participate in a maximum of two individual events. It was informed that Aadhaar will be the only accepted document for registration, and the deadline for registration is November 6th. No entries will be accepted after this date.
Additionally, Nagaland Athletics will conduct an Athletic Federation of India (AFI) athlete registration drive. AFI athlete registration is mandatory for all participants in AFI-organized competitions. Athletes have therefore been encouraged to register on the Athletic Federation of India website and obtain an AFIUID Number.
AFI has announced that athletes with outstanding performances during the championship will be selected for an intensive State-level coaching camp.
