Nagaland shooting team wins 12 medals at North East Zone Championship

The Nagaland shooting team secured 12 medals at the 13th North East Zone Shooting Championship 2026, held in Guwahati, Assam, from August 25 to 30.

Nagaland was represented by 23 shooters, including five women and 18 men, who competed in 10m rifle and pistol, 25m standard pistol, 50m rifle prone and clay pigeon trap shooting events.

The team won six gold, four silver and two bronze medals.

Rongsennangshi Longchar won silver in the 10m Air Rifle Sub-Youth Men individual event, while Thejaselhou Ajan Liezietsu and Yimyakumla secured bronze in the 10m Air Rifle Junior Men and 10m Air Rifle ISSF Women events respectively.

Yimyakumla also won silver in the 50m Rifle Prone Women event and gold in the Junior Women and Youth Women categories. Chizou Sorhienuo won gold in the 10m Air Rifle Senior Master Women and 50m Rifle Prone Senior Master Women events.

Lanu Akumtoshi Jamir secured bronze in the 25m Standard Pistol Master Men event. Merang Jamir won gold in the 50m Rifle Prone Senior Master Men and Clay Pigeon Trap Shooting Senior Master Men events, while Kimatsung Jamir won silver in the Senior Men Clay Pigeon Trap Shooting event.

According to the Nagaland team, 15 shooters qualified for the 69th National Shooting Championships Competition 2026.

The team congratulated the medal winners, participating shooters, coaches and officials for their performance.
