Mokokchung, September 5 (MTNews): According to a research reported by Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPRD) under Ministry of Home Affairs, as of January 1, 2020, the total actual strength of Nagaland State police was 1,375 more than sanctioned.

 

The total strength of Nagaland State police as of January 1, 2020 was 28,113 despite the fact that only 26,738 were sanctioned.

 

The Nagaland civil police strength was 5,832 which was 217 more than sanctioned, the District Armed Reserve Police strength was 3,352 which was 719 more than sanctioned, the state armed police strength was 13,067 which was 418 more than sanctioned, and the IRP strength was 5,862 which was 20 more than sanctioned.

 

The report also listed 86 police stations in Nagaland, with 53 being rural, 19 being urban, and 14 being special purpose police stations. The total number of women police officers in Nagaland was 2,739 accounting for 9.74% of the entire police force.

 

As of January 1, 2020, Nagaland had the following vacancies: 2 IGP, 1 DIG, 6 inspectors/RI, 36 ASP/Dy. Sp/Asst. Commandant, 19 SI/RSI, 21 ASI/ARSI, and 14 head constables. However, the number of constables was 316 more than was sanctioned as per the Bureau of Police Research & Development report.
