Mokokchung, August 31 (MTNews): Nagaland’s lone Lok Sabha MP, Tokheho Yepthomi chaired the Dimapur District Development Coordination Committee and Monitoring Committee meeting at the conference hall of the commissioner of taxes in Dimapur on Wednesday. He lamented that while other states in the country are far ahead in the development sector, Nagaland is still lagging behind.

“We need to mend our ways and educate our people otherwise there will be no development in our state,” he said.

The MP expressed his dissatisfaction with the departments’ work delays, inability to provide detailed facts, and lack of corrective action during the meeting with them. He urged them to conduct appropriate research and demand efficient follow-up on any issues brought up throughout the discussion. He instructed the departments to guarantee proper and efficient handling of the numerous schemes under each department and to submit all the necessary information at the earliest opportunity, no later than September.

He also urged the departments to undertake all flagship programs in the district with greater responsibility and sincerity. Departments such as PHED (Rural) and PHED (Urban), DRDA, PWD (R&B), horticulture, education, agriculture, social welfare, food and civil supplies, lead bank, tribal affairs, and water resources highlighted their most recent activities, achievements of both physical and financial targets, coverage, and effectiveness of centrally sponsored schemes in the district.
