27 United FC beats Frontier Warriors to seal playoff spot

A dramatic late comeback saw 27 United FC snatch a 3-2 victory over Frontier Warriors FC on Match Day 15 of the Nagaland Super League at IG Stadium, effectively securing their playoff qualification.

Frontier Warriors took early control, racing to a 2-0 lead within 17 minutes. However, Nokwang Konyak pulled one back in the 21st minute. Jangjagin Kuki’s stunning 88th-minute equalizer set up a thrilling finish, and deep into stoppage time (90+4’), a Manpu Konyak own goal sealed 27 United’s victory.

Despite Frontier Warriors’ loss, Ayenmongba was named Player of the Match for his commanding midfield performance. With this win, 27 United FC retained fourth place in the table with 16 points, securing a playoff spot. A draw would have meant Sechu Zubza qualifying instead, as they finished fifth with 15 points.

Sechu Zubza FC Edges Longterok FC 1-0 in Nagaland Super League Clash

Earlier in the day, Sechu Zubza FC secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Longterok FC on Match Day 15 of the Nagaland Super League at IG Stadium.

Limakumzak scored the decisive goal in the 9th minute, earning him the Player of the Match award. Despite Longterok FC dominating possession in the second half, their lack of finishing proved costly.

Sechu Zubza defended resolutely, effectively closing down attacks. While Longterok had already qualified for the playoffs, their struggles in front of goal could be a concern moving forward. However, the win was not enough for Sechu Zubza to secure a playoff sport, as they fell just one point short, finishing fifth in the table.

 

Barak FC beat Red Scars FC 2-1

Table toppers Barak FC secured a 2-1 win over Red Scars FC in a thrilling Nagaland Super League clash at Chumoukedima Football Stadium.

Despite Red Scars FC dominating possession, their finishing let them down. Barak FC took their chances well, with Player of the Match Toka A Achumi scoring twice (40’, 69’) to seal the victory. Sentilong pulled one back for Red Scars in stoppage time, but it was too late to change the outcome.

League leaders Barak FC will take on fourth-placed 27 United FC, while second-placed Nagaland United FC will face third-placed Longterok FC in the playoffs. Meanwhile, Toka Achumi of Barak FC leads the Golden Boot race with 12 goals, just one ahead of Nagaland United’s Nisede Peseyie. Jangjagin Kuki of 27 United FC sits third with eight goals.
