The Nagaland Taekwondo Association participated in the 40th Senior National Taekwondo Championship held in Pondicherry from 18th to 20th October 2024.


The 18-member Nagaland team, consisting of 8 boys and 7 girls, along with 3 team officials, was led by T. Alem Aier, Senior Team Coach Santsuthung Ngullie, and Keneingulie as the Team Manager.

Malika Baruah won a bronze medal in the girls’ under-53 kg category by defeating competitors from West Bengal, Taekwondo Federation of India (TFI), and Madhya Pradesh, before losing in the semifinal against Chandigarh.
This Senior National Taekwondo Championship also served as the qualification round for the National Games to be held in Uttarakhand in January 2025.

Both Malika Baruah (under-53 kg) and Dipika Hazarika (under-46 kg) qualified for the National Games.

Malika Baruah and Dipika Hazarika, both Assam Rifles cadres, are currently posted at Assam Rifles Training Centre and School (ARTC&S), Sukhovi.

NTA Vice President and Senior Team Coach, T. Alem Aier, said in a press release that the players appreciate the Nagaland Taekwondo Association (NTA) officials for providing a one-month coaching camp under a Korean coach.

“The team officials especially acknowledge Pele Khezhie, President of NTA, Kethosituo Sekhose, NCS, Director of Youth Resources and Sports Nagaland, Visabiu Peseyie, State Taekwondo Coach, and CO Assam Rifles, Sukhovi, along with the supporting staff of Assam Rifles,” Aier added.
