Government Departments and Organizations to Undertake Outreach Activities for Environmental Awareness

Kohima, 1 June (MTNews): Nagaland is set to observe World Environment Day on 5 June 2023 with a series of initiatives aimed at creating awareness about the importance of behavioral change for environmental conservation. The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests & HOFF, Nagaland, has issued a letter calling upon all Departments and Organizations of the Government of Nagaland to participate actively in the celebrations.

The letter emphasizes the significance of the occasion and highlights the need for major outreach and advocacy activities under the banner of Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment). The primary objective is to sensitize people about the impact of individual actions on the environment.

To facilitate the mobilization efforts, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has established a dedicated website at http://missionlife-moefcc.nic.in/, where details of the activities to be undertaken can be accessed.

In recognition of the importance of documentation and sharing of these initiatives, the letter further instructs that all undertaken activities should be uploaded on the portal merilife.org. Organizations are encouraged to include geo-tagged photos and videos to enhance the authenticity of the uploaded content.

For the state of Nagaland, a specific login ID and password have been provided to access the portal merilife.org. Interested departments and organizations can log in with username: merilife_nagaland and password: Life@123

Meanwhile, in an effort to address air pollution and enhance the air quality in the environment, the Kohima Forest Division and the Nagaland Pollution Control Board have collaborated to implement the National Clean Air Program (NCAP). As part of this initiative, indigenous cherry tree saplings will be distributed and planted in select government office premises across the region.
