Nagaland is gearing up for a mass social work on October 21, 2024, in anticipation of the 25th edition of the Hornbill Festival. This initiative follows a resolution made during a meeting held on September 10, 2024, under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Mokokchung, Thsuvisie Phoji, has announced that the mass social work will commence at 7:00 AM and will take place throughout Mokokchung district. All offices, schools, institutions, villages, and wards in the district have been instructed to participate strictly.

In addition, the Home Department has issued a notification for a similar initiative in Kohima, scheduled to begin at 8:00 AM on the same day. This social work in Kohima will see active participation from all government employees, the Kohima Municipal Council, NGOs, and the general public across all wards.

To facilitate the successful execution of the mass social work in Kohima, a location-wise work distribution has been established. The mass social work on roads not covered by government departments will be managed by the respective wards, with councilors supervising the activities to ensure maximum public participation.

The departments involved will be responsible for cleaning and disposal in their assigned areas, including any unfinished work that may extend into the following day. Attendance will be recorded by departmental heads and forwarded to the DC of Kohima for submission to the government.

The Kohima Municipal Council will identify alternate dumping sites in advance, and all dustbins will be managed by the council. The Public Works Department (R&B) may coordinate with the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) to demarcate relevant portions for their work.

The Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) will arrange for extensive publicity through All India Radio, Doordarshan, print media, and announcements via the public address system.
