Nagaland is set to enhance its disaster preparedness with the installation of an Early Warning System (EWS) aimed at providing timely alerts for natural calamities. The initiative comes following a request by Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Phangnon Konyak, to which Union Minister of State Dr Jitendra Singh responded with immediate support.

Expressing gratitude, Konyak acknowledged Dr Singh’s prompt response, emphasizing the importance of this initiative for the people of Nagaland.

The Early Warning System will serve a crucial role in monitoring and issuing alerts for: Earthquakes, Extreme weather events, including heatwaves, cold waves, heavy rainfall, and floods, Lightning and thunderstorms, Landslides and Other disaster-related emergencies.

Given Nagaland’s vulnerability to natural disasters, this EWS will be instrumental in safeguarding lives and properties by ensuring better preparedness and response measures.
