The Government of Nagaland has announced the mandatory installation of smart prepaid electricity meters across all government buildings, with immediate effect. The initiative is being implemented by the Power Department in compliance with directives from the Ministry of Power, Government of India.
According to an official circular issued by the Power Department, the move follows the Ministry’s August 2021 notification and a subsequent letter dated May 19, 2025. The decision was also reinforced during the recent meeting of Administrative Heads and Heads of Departments (AHODs/HODs) held on May 15, 2025.
The Power Department has requested all concerned to extend cooperation for the successful implementation of the program.
