Nagaland Tourism Department, Meghalaya firm to develop higher category hotels in Dimapur, Kohima

Kohima, 13 September (MTNews): The Nagaland government has entered into a lease agreement for the development of 4/5 star or Higher Category Hotels with entertainment and retail facilities at Dimapur Tourist Lodge and erstwhile New Millennium at New Minister’s Hill Kohima.

As per an AIR report, the lease agreement under Public Private Partnership between the Tourism Department of Nagaland and the Hotel Polo Towers Group of Meghalaya was signed by the Director of Nagaland Tourism Department, Keduosie-ü M Rio, and the CEO & Director of Hotel Polo Tower Group, Deval Tibrewalla, in the presence of Nagaland Tourism Minister Temjen Imna Along, MLA Kevipodi Sophie and officials from the state Tourism department and Hotel Polo Group in Kohima today.

 

The agreement, which is for 60 years, encompasses the development of a 4/5 Star Hotel with a mall in Dimapur and a 4/5 Star Hotel in Kohima. These landmark projects are set to elevate the tourism and economic landscape of Nagaland.

 

Nagaland Tourism Minister Temjen Imna Along said the initiative was a fulfillment of the vision of Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio towards making tourism an industry in the state. He also said the Hornbill Festival being initiated under the leadership of Chief Minister Rio today has put the state in the global tourism map and made known throughout the world.

 

Imna Along also said that with the increased footfall of tourists in the state, the need for the right boutique hotels with Naga consciousness in it is needed.

 

MLA Kevipodi Sophie termed the day a ‘red letter day’ and said this will be a morale booster for the state as a whole.
