Nagaland U-15 wrestling team departs for National Championship in Nagpur

The Under-15 wrestling team of the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) is set to depart for Nagpur, Maharashtra on June 20 to participate in the National Wrestling Championship scheduled for June 21–22, 2025.

Organised by the Maharashtra Rajya Kustigir Sangh under the aegis of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), the championship will feature top young wrestling talents from across the country.

The NWA U-15 team comprises seven wrestlers and two coaches. The team is led by State Coach Mr. Kikhwesül Thokhwe and Mr. Vekhriyi Chüzho, Technical Secretary of NWA.

The participating wrestlers in the Freestyle category are C. Renjanthung Jami (38 kg), Peilungningteibo (41 kg), and Nuvove Theluo (48 kg). Representing the state in Greco-Roman style is Vimeyie Zecho (48 kg). In the Women’s Wrestling category, the team includes Sedengunuo Zecho (33 kg), Esther (42 kg), and Chumoi Phom (46 kg).

A brief send-off ceremony for the team was held at Wrestling Hall B, Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima. NWA President Mr. Vivolie Kezo addressed the gathering and encouraged the young wrestlers to give their best and bring pride to the state.

The Nagaland Wrestling Association has appealed to the public and the wrestling community to support the team and uphold them in their prayers as they represent the state on the national stage.
