An interactive session between the School of Engineering and Technology (SET), Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, and Zikrul Hasan Fahad, Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Guwahati, was held on October 12 at the Seminar Hall, SET–NU, Kohima Campus.
The program opened with a welcome address by Prof N Venuh, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Nagaland University, Kohima Campus. Prof Venuh welcomed the visiting dignitary and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to strengthening international academic partnerships, noting the importance of cross-border collaboration in science, engineering, and technology to address regional developmental and environmental challenges.
Prof Sujata Dash, Dean of the School of Engineering and Technology, presented an overview of the School’s departments, research activities, and academic initiatives. She highlighted several potential areas for collaboration with universities in Bangladesh, including joint research projects in sustainable engineering, renewable energy, and environmental management; student and faculty exchange programs; internship opportunities to provide cross-cultural industry and research exposure; a collaborative master’s program in Disaster Management; and jointly organized workshops and technical seminars.
During the interaction, Fahad expressed appreciation for Nagaland University’s proactive approach and extended support for establishing linkages with leading universities in Bangladesh. Discussions covered possible cooperation in student exchanges, internships, joint research, and the development of a collaborative Disaster Management program.
Prof Nigamananda Das of the Department of English noted that international students from Bangladesh are already pursuing higher studies and research at Nagaland University, reflecting its growing global engagement. The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof Prabhakar Sharma, Head of the Department of Agricultural Engineering and Technology.
