Nagaland University concludes Vigilance Awareness Week 2025

Nagaland University, Lumami, concluded its Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 with a culmination programme held at I. Ihoshe Kinimi Hall, Lumami, on October 31. The event, themed “Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility,” brought together students, faculty, and staff.

Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome

Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Advisor, School Education, Government of Nagaland, who was the special guest, set the tone for the event. He expressed gratitude to the university for organizing the programme and praised the efforts of the Vice-Chancellor in promoting transparency and accountability. Yhome acknowledged the progress made in education in Nagaland, citing the state’s ranking as the third most literate in the country.

Dr. Yhome reflected on Nagaland’s developmental journey, highlighting the importance of education and the role of institutions in shaping society. He emphasized the need for collective efforts to foster a culture of transparency and accountability and urged individuals to be responsible citizens. He also spoke about the challenges of building and respecting institutions in a young society and the importance of adapting to changing times. Dr. Yhome further highlighted the significance of social motivation and altruism in driving progress and development. He concluded by underlining the importance of vigilance awareness and the responsibility of individuals in promoting transparency and accountability in society.

In a short speech, the Vice-Chancellor of Nagaland University, Prof. Jagadesh K. Patnaik, emphasized the importance of the rule of law in modern societies. He stated that following rules is crucial to ensuring justice and fairness in any organization. He pointed out that corruption and nepotism arise when rules are compromised, leading to inefficiency and injustice. The Vice-Chancellor urged everyone to remain vigilant and uphold the principles of justice and fairness.

The programme was chaired by Dr. Neizhanuo Golmei, and a detailed report on activities related to the Vigilance Awareness Week was presented by Mr. Kahoshe Sumi, Dy. Registrar (GAD) and Member Secretary of the Vigilance Week Organizing Committee. The event included a Vigilance Pledge, and Dr. Sandeep Gupta wrapped up the programme with a heartfelt vote of thanks. Miss Idaizeule, a third-semester student from the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, served as the rapporteur.
