The School of Agricultural Sciences, Nagaland University, Medziphema Campus, conducted a training cum inputs distribution programme at the IPM Model Village, Socunoma, in Chümoukedima district on December 18, 2025. The programme was organised under the project titled “Establishment of Crop Based Model IPM Villages for Promotion of Integrated Pest Management Technologies in the NEH Region of India,” funded by ICAR NRIIPM, New Delhi.

The training on integrated pest management of important vegetable crops was conducted by Dr Waluniba, Assistant Professor, Department of Entomology, SAS, NU. Farmers were trained on the identification of major insect pests and suitable management practices.
Dr Kevineituo Bier, Assistant Professor, Department of Soil Science, SAS, NU, spoke on the importance of soil management practices to enhance soil productivity and improve soil health and quality.
Agricultural inputs including knapsack sprayers, yellow sticky traps, neem oil, Trichoderma, biofertilisers, Beauveria bassiana and phosphate solubilising bacteria were distributed to farmers of the adopted village.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Secretary of Socunoma village.
