Lumami, 28 March (MTNews): The Department of Sociology at Nagaland University, in collaboration with the Indian Sociological Society, hosted a two-day National Workshop on Crafting Qualitative Research. The workshop, tailored for young research scholars in the field of social sciences, was held on 27 and 28 March 2024.
The inaugural session of the workshop, held on 27 March, was chaired by Prof. Temjensosang, Associate Professor at the Department of Sociology, Nagaland University. Prof. Athungo Ovung, Head of the Department of Sociology, Nagaland University, delivered the introductory remarks, emphasizing the pivotal theme of the workshop.
Prof. Jagdish K Patnaik, Vice-Chancellor of Nagaland University, was the chief guest for the inaugural session. Prof. In his address, Patnaik underscored the contemporary significance of mastering qualitative research methodologies.
Adding a cultural touch to the event, a special song presentation was performed by the Fusion group, comprising research scholars from Nagaland University. The inaugural program concluded with a vote of thanks extended by Dr Dipika Paul.
Following the inaugural session, the workshop proceeded with four technical sessions, each featuring distinguished resource persons. These sessions provided invaluable insights into qualitative research methodologies, with contributions from Prof. Toshimenla Jamir, Prof. Maitrayee Chaudhury, Prof. Somenath Bhattacharjee, and Dr. Sandeep Gupta, all esteemed faculty members of Nagaland University.
The workshop aimed to equip young scholars with essential skills and knowledge required for conducting qualitative research effectively. It served as a platform for fostering academic exchange and collaboration within the realm of social sciences.
