A five-day “Academic Reading and Writing Workshop” (22nd–26th September 2025) for PhD scholars, organised by the Department of Sociology, Nagaland University, began on 22nd September 2025 at the Department’s Conference Hall in the presence of the Honourable Vice-Chancellor, Prof. J.K. Patnaik.
The workshop is being conducted by the Department in association with RC01: Theory and Practice in Sociology, Indian Sociological Society. The resource person for the five-day workshop is Prof. Satish Deshpande, Former Head and Professor, Department of Sociology, Delhi School of Economics. Prof. P.S. Vivek, Treasurer, Indian Sociological Society, also graced the occasion.
The inaugural session was chaired by Prof. Temjensosang, Department of Sociology, who introduced the resource person to the audience. Dr. Suraj Beri, Organising Secretary of the workshop, highlighted its core objective, emphasising the need to invest in reading and writing in academics. There are 32 participants from various departments of Nagaland University.
The Chief Guest, Prof. J.K. Patnaik, in his speech, remarked on how fortunate the participants are to be involved in such a professionally enriching programme and encouraged them to make the most of it. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Dipika Paul.
