The Nagaland University Students’ Union Lumami (NUSU-L) successfully organized its first-ever Table Tennis Championship on November 1 at the Lumami campus, bringing together students, faculty, and staff in a shared sporting experience. The event, held at the Multi-Purpose Hall, aimed to promote table tennis and foster camaraderie within the campus community.

The competition featured men’s and women’s singles, doubles, and mixed doubles categories.

In the men’s singles, Kitoho emerged as the winner, while Rokovotso Nagi finished as runner-up. In men’s doubles, the pair of Peter Ki and Japhet Kihimi H Yeptho secured the first position, followed by Daniel and Paul in second. The mixed doubles title went to Peter Ki and Kekhrievonuo Rome, with Rokovotso Nagi and Gwanglungzeule as runners-up.

In the women’s singles category, Kekhrievonuo Rome took the top spot, and Ngiplong S Konyak finished second. The women’s doubles title was won by Kekhrievonuo Rome and Gwanglungzeule, while Ngiplong and Vandana were runners-up.

Players displayed impressive skill and sportsmanship throughout the competition. Winners and runners-up in each category received cash prizes.

The event concluded with a valedictory program graced by Dr Monalisa Tase, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science. Dr Tase congratulated NUSU-L for organizing the historic event and highlighted the importance of sports in developing discipline, resilience, and respect.

NUSU-L President Toito V Zhimomi delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to participants and supporters, and hoped the championship would mark the beginning of more such activities in the future.
