Nagaland University organises programme at IPM Model Village Rusoma

The School of Agricultural Sciences, Nagaland University (SAS, NU), Medziphema Campus, organised a training-cum-input distribution programme at IPM Model Village Rusoma in Kohima district, Nagaland, on December 19, 2025, under the project titled “Establishment of crop-based model IPM villages for promotion of integrated pest management technologies in the NEH region of India.” The project is funded by ICAR–NRIIPM, New Delhi.


Training on integrated pest management in orange cultivation was imparted by Dr Waluniba, Assistant Professor, Department of Entomology, SAS, NU. Farmers were trained on identifying major insect pests associated with orange crops and managing them using the IPM approach.

Dr Kevineituo Bier, Assistant Professor, Department of Soil Science, SAS, NU, spoke on the importance of soil management through integrated nutrient management to enhance soil productivity and improve soil health and quality.

Agricultural inputs including knapsack sprayers, yellow sticky traps, neem oil, Trichoderma, biofertilisers, Beauveria bassiana, phosphate-solubilising bacteria, buckets, lime, and copper sulphate for Bordeaux mixture preparation were distributed to farmers of the adopted village.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Ketouvilie Bier, VDB member, Rusoma village.
