Nagaland University organizes a workshop on language revitalization
In the present scenario, as most of our languages are declining due to shrinking intergenerational transmission, pressure of globalization and dominance of larger regional and global languages, workshops such as this provides space to reflect on the challenges we face, share knowledge and strategies from community members and scholars who are active participants in the language revitalization process.
Dr D’Souza delivered three sessions on Language Endangerment: What it is and why one should be bothered about it, Language Revitalisation as both hope and despair and finally drawing on his own extensive experience working and aiding in the revitalisation of the Hrusso Aka language. The workshop was attended by scholars, faculty, and community members from all over Nagaland.
