Nagaland University’s LCSC brings FIFA World Cup 2026 live to campus

The Lumami Campus Sports Club (LCSC) of Nagaland University has begun live screening of the FIFA World Cup 2026 on a giant screen at the University Auditorium, bringing together students, faculty, staff and their families to celebrate football’s biggest tournament.

The screenings, which will continue until the final, are open to all members of the university community residing on the Lumami campus. The initiative aims to promote sportsmanship, strengthen community bonds and create a vibrant campus atmosphere.

The programme has received the support of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Jagadish Kumar Patnaik, Chief Patron of LCSC, and Registrar Dr. Abemo, Patron of the club. They appreciated the club’s efforts to promote a healthy sporting culture and greater community engagement through the collective viewing experience.

Speaking on the occasion, LCSC President Lanuzulu said the live screening marks the kick-off event for the forthcoming LCSC Sports Meet 2026. “We hope this initiative will create a lively and sports-loving atmosphere on the campus while encouraging greater participation in future sporting activities,” he said.

Lanuzulu also acknowledged the contributions of General Secretary Akala, Assistant General Secretary Hukheto, and organising committee members Medo and Yanpo for making the event possible.

Established on September 18, 2012, the Lumami Campus Sports Club has been organising annual sports activities and tournaments to promote fitness, unity and sportsmanship within the Nagaland University community.
