The Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) has announced the postponement of the proposed State Level Freestyle, Greco-Roman Style, and Women’s Wrestling Championship, which was scheduled to be held on October 21 and 22, 2025.

According to a press statement issued by NWA Joint Secretary Kuzhovesa Soho, the decision was made following the outcome of the NWA Executive Office Bearers meeting held on October 13.

The postponement, he said, was necessitated due to unfavourable circumstances that have arisen in organizing the championship. The association has requested all its affiliated and provisional units to bear with the inconvenience caused.

In an effort to reform and revive Freestyle, Greco-Roman Style, and Women’s Wrestling in the state, the NWA has directed all affiliated and provisional units to organize training or coaching camps within their respective jurisdictions on or before November 15, 2025. Units are also instructed to submit official reports along with photographs to the NWA office.

These training activities will serve as part of the selection process for the 2025 Senior National Wrestling Championship to be held in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, from December 12 to 14 under the aegis of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI).

The NWA has also invited interested wrestlers to contact their respective units or the NWA office if they wish to attend out-of-state coaching camps for Freestyle, Greco-Roman, and Women’s Wrestling, which are expected to be held soon. The last date for submitting confirmation lists of wrestlers for the camp has been set for October 18, 2025, before 12 noon.
