Mokokchung, 28 June (MTNews): Nagaland’s wrestling champion, Venuzo Dawhuo, has embarked on a journey to the United States to engage in wrestling matches against Chin Wrestlers.
An update from Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CW) stated that a sendoff ceremony for Venuzo Dawhuo and Vekhozo, who were leaving to Bloomington, Indianapolis USA to partake in the 12th Biennial Convention of Chin Youth Organization of North America (CYONA) celebrating cultural exchange through wrestling slated from 30 June to 3 July, was held today.
Venuzo Dawhuo, the reigning champion of the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA), was invited by CYONA to compete against the top Chin wrestlers.
On 8 July, he is also expected to engage in challenging wrestling bouts with renowned Chin wrestlers such as Rung Lian Ceu and Biak.
The sendoff ceremony was attended by officials from the CWA, CAWA, PAWA, Chakhesang NWA, as well as relatives and well-wishers of Venuzo Dawhuo and Vekhozo. The duo is anticipated to return home by 12 July.
Meanwhile, Nagaland’s Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio on Wednesday met Venuzo Dawhuo and conveyed his best wishes, commending his status as the reigning champion of the Nagaland Wrestling Association. Rio expressed hope that Venuzo would maintain his winning streak and pave the way for other wrestlers through this remarkable initiative.
