Mokokchung, October 1 (MTNews): The Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress (NPYC) extended solidarity and support to the All Nagaland Adhoc Teachers Group (ANATG) – 2015 Batch in their demand for regularization of service of its 1,166 members.

“It is disheartening and discouraging to learn that despite having appeared the suitability test conducted by the Department of School Education as per norms for service regularization in 2017, the department has neither declared the results nor regularized their services till date, which has compelled them to resort to sit-in-protest and hunger strike since 26th of September in Kohima,” the NPYC stated in a press release.

According to NPYC, when the Department has declared the 1,166 ad hoc teachers as “not illegal appointees” and were given irregular appointments, NPYC expressed their view that, “all measures should be taken immediately to help them get regularized.”

The NPYC also expressed concern over the final exams of schools in the offing and said that ANATG-2015 Batch agitation is hampering the academic career of thousands of our younger generation throughout the State.
While the government of the day and the department has been citing reasons of standing Court order for their inability to regularize the services of ad hoc teachers, it is an open secret that many departments have been regularizing the services of their ad hoc employees, the NPYC stated.

The NPYC also appreciated the dialogue between ANATG officials and DoSE where the Nagaland Chief Secretary had decided to form the High Powered Committee (HPC).

“But, we are skeptical about the long duration of a year for the HPC to study their case. Therefore, the NPYC once again appeals to the government and the Department of School Education to take the issue of service regularization of the ad hoc teachers with utmost importance and urgently defuse the matter so that they can go back to the respective places of posting and impart quality education to the younger generation,” the statement concluded.
