Chuchuyimlang under Mokokchung district has been recognized as the first Empretec-HiEERA village in India. The recognition was given for having subscribed to the Empretec-HiEERA Methodology and United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) roster of good business linkage practices towards the attainment of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals 2030.

The recognition certificate was awarded to the village council chairman, Ao Sanen Pongen by the Chief General Manager of Small Industries Development Bank of India, Dr Subhransu Sekhar Acharya, and the National Director of Empretec India Foundation Arnab Chakrabortty, during the 8th World Investment Forum in Abu Dhabi on 19 October.

The Empretec India Foundation in collaboration with the Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Nagaland, and the Small Industries Development Bank of India facilitated the seven delegates from Nagaland to attend the World Investment Forum.

EMPRETEC is a United Nations program established by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) to promote the creation of sustainable, innovative, and internationally competitive small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) High Impact Entrepreneurs from Emerging Regions for Action (HiEERA) programme has been developed by Empretec India Foundation (EIF) to cater to the needs of high-impact entrepreneurs that includes both culture and linkage-based interventions.

A delegation of seven persons from Nagaland is attending the 8th edition of the World Investment Forum being held biennially.

The seven delegates from Nagaland include:

Ao Sanen Pongen, Chairman of Chuchuyimlang Village Council, is an entrepreneur and Senior Advisor to Empretec India Foundation.

Paul Lokho is a pioneer in the NGO sector for North Eastern Region since the mid 1980s who has been a project lead in some regional transformation projects of the ADB and World Bank for the region presently engaged in Youth Entrepreneurship Development and improving rural livelihoods among rural communities and Senior Advisor of Empretec India Foundation.

Alemjungla Jamir is Chairwoman of Women Entrepreneurship Network Nagaland (WENN) and proprietor of Naga Bowl.

Dr Patu K Zeliang is an agri extension personnel and working in ICAR KVK Peren, who is also mostly dealing with capacity development of farmers and building ecosystem.

Lieut Col Joy Choudhury, who is the Secretary, Zila Sainik Board, Mokokchung, Nagaland is working with the Ex Service Men (ESM) of Mokokchung, Longleng, Tuensang, Noklak and Shamator districts. He is leading the implementation of the UNCTAD Empretec Complexes of Eco Systems in bringing development through entrepreneurship in the state.

Caroline Sahnamai Paul, founder of Tribal Spun and House of Twiss (a unit of textile, art & crafts), is also an organic tea grower.

Wangshikokla Jamir is Founder Director of International Institute of Medical Research Centre and a social worker and entrepreneur, and chief functionary of Molungs women and child welfare society.
