MP Jamir urges timely completion, reintroduction of Nagaland Express, modern facilities at Dimapur station

Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) S Supongmeren Jamir attended the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) meeting at Maligaon, Guwahati on October 14, 2025, along with MPs from all Northeastern states. The meeting focused on reviewing ongoing and upcoming railway projects in the region.

During deliberations, the Railway Board assured that the Molvom-Pherima section (14.09 km) is expected to be commissioned by December 2026, while the Pherima-Zubza section (36.79 km) is projected for completion by December 2028.

The NFR also confirmed the upgradation of Dimapur Railway Station, stating that the Master Plans and Design Basis reports for RCC and steel structures have been approved, with an expected completion date of June 30, 2028.

However, officials highlighted challenges due to encroachments inside the station premises, including shops, houses, dhabas, and temples, and requested intervention from the State Government to ensure timely completion.

In addition, the Railway Authority assured complete development works at Shokhuvi and Molvom stations. Discussions also covered the commencement of passenger train operations in the Amguri-Tuli section, including works identified for Tuli station in Mokokchung District.

MP Jamir requested consideration for the construction of the Dimapur-Tizit railway line and urged the Railway Authority to examine the foothill security route from Dimapur via Nuiland to Bhandari in Wokha District.

He also called for the reintroduction of the discontinued 6 AM Nagaland Express route from Dimapur to Guwahati and proposed the installation of Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) at Dimapur station. Furthermore, he urged the NFR to advertise statewide railway employment opportunities through proper channels.
