Sorikhiung Yimchunger of Nagaland secured a gold medal in the 53 kg weight category at the IFFC National MMA & Striking MMA Championship 2025, held under the banner of the “Open National MMA Fight Night.” The championship, sanctioned by the Karnataka State Mixed Martial Arts Association and affiliated with the All India Mixed Martial Arts Federation, took place at 91 Sporting, Kodigehalli, Bengaluru, from February 27 to 28.

Sorikhiung delivered a dominant performance, defeating his opponent via TKO in just 30 seconds to claim the top podium spot. The IFFC, or Iron Fist Fighting Championship, is one of the recognized platforms for emerging MMA athletes in the country.
In recognition of his achievement, the Yimkhiung Sports Association (YSA) congratulated Sorikhiung, son of Zhewongba Yimchunger of Yahkor Village under Shamator District, for bringing pride to Nagaland.
“The Yimkhiung Sports Association is so proud to see his consistency in the profession and placing our State on the map of MMA,” YSA president L Shahoto and Khalenmew Yim stated in a press release.
The Association also urged the government and relevant authorities to extend continuous support to athletes like Sorikhiung, stating the need to “handhold such budding champions for higher and greater participation at the international levels.”
“We further wish and pray for greater success in his career and bring greater laurels to our State and Country,” YSA added.
Sorikhiung’s latest triumph adds to his growing list of accolades. He previously won gold at the 5th PML (Pro MMA League) Nationals Youth MMA Championship in the under-18, 53.6 kg weight category, held from June 22 to 23, 2024, at the Andheri Sports Complex in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
