Nand Kishore Yadav took oath as the 23rd Governor of Nagaland in a ceremony held at Dr Imkongliba Ao Hall, Lok Bhavan, Kohima, on 13 March 2026.

The Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court, Justice Ashutosh Kumar administering an oath of office to Governor of Nagaland, Nand Kishore Yadav during swearing-in ceremony held at Dr. Imkongliba Ao Hall, Lok Bhavan, Kohima on March 13.

The oath of office was administered by Justice Ashutosh Kumar, Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court, in the presence of Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio, members of the State Cabinet, legislators, senior officials, and representatives of various organizations.

Following the swearing-in, the Governor interacted with the Chief Minister and Cabinet colleagues, reaffirming his commitment to work closely with the State Government for the welfare and development of Nagaland.

In his address to the people of Nagaland, Governor Yadav expressed gratitude to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for entrusting him with the constitutional responsibility. He said Nagaland occupies a special place in India’s diverse fabric, known for its vibrant cultural heritage, strong community values, and the resilience of its people.

Highlighting the progress of India and the North Eastern region, Governor Yadav noted that initiatives in connectivity, infrastructure, and economic development are creating new opportunities while preserving the unique identity of the region. He observed that Nagaland has been steadily progressing across sectors such as education, infrastructure, agriculture, tourism, digital connectivity, and entrepreneurship, and called for meaningful opportunities for youth to generate employment and promote innovation.

The Governor also emphasized the importance of peace, stability, and harmony as the foundation for sustainable development. He affirmed that, in his role, he would uphold the Constitution, promote inclusive development, encourage good governance, and work with all sections of society to preserve the cultural heritage of Nagaland.
