MY Bharat–Kiphire, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and Akehda Amulung Kiphire organised district-level competitions under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan 2026 at Agape Higher Secondary School, Kiphire, on August 22.
The programme was attended by Col. Rajiv Sharma, Commandant, 30 Assam Rifles, as the special guest. It began with a session led by Tronglise Sangtam of Akehda Amulung, followed by a welcome address by Kishore Dulam, District Youth Officer, MY Bharat–Kiphire.
Dulam stressed the need to build a drug-free society and expressed concern over the availability of drugs at low prices in interior areas, noting that drug abuse could contribute to other social problems.
Col. Sharma urged young people to stay away from drugs and support those struggling with addiction. He said overcoming addiction requires determination and encouraged participants to make positive choices.
Major Shikha Satsangi (Retired) conducted a career guidance session on opportunities for women in the Armed Forces. Drawing from her experience, she encouraged parents to support their daughters pursuing careers in the military.
The competitions included reel making and short film, painting, dance, music and rap, slam poetry, nukkad natak, slogan writing and debate, providing youth a platform to promote the message of a drug-free society.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Longtili C Sangtam, founder of Akehda Amulung.
