Mokokchung, August 1 (MTNews): As of June 2022, the cities of Dimapur and Kohima in Nagaland have used a total of Rs.6.12 crore under the National Clean Air Program (NCAP) since FY 2019-20, according to a written response by Minister of State for Environment, Forest & Climate Change Ashwini Kumar Choubey in the Lok Sabha.
The Ministry of Environment, Forestry, and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) launched the National Clean Air Program (NCAP) in January 2019. It is a long-term, time-bound national policy for the prevention, control, and abatement of air pollution. By 2024, it has been planned to reduce the concentration of particulate matter nationwide by 20 to 30 percent under NCAP.
The funds made available to cities are for the implementation of city action plans including activities for IEC (information, education, and communication) and steps to improve air quality.
