The two-day National IP Yatra – Nagaland 2026, themed “Embracing Modern Technology”, began at the Integrated Business Hub & Innovation Centre, Forest Colony, Dimapur, on 12th March. Organized by the Intellectual Property Facilitation Centre under IDAN in collaboration with the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), the event aims to raise awareness on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) among MSMEs, start-ups, and entrepreneurs while encouraging adoption of modern technology.

Addressing participants, Advisor to the Chief Minister & IDAN Chairman Abu Metha emphasized the growing importance of intellectual property in strengthening enterprises and boosting the business ecosystem. Highlighting the vital role of MSMEs in India’s economy, he urged young entrepreneurs to embrace digital tools and modern technology to remain competitive.
Director of MSME DFO, Dimapur, Mohd Ali Rahman, outlined government initiatives supporting MSMEs, including the MSME Innovative Scheme, MSE Cluster Development Programme, and skill-development programs. He stressed the importance of IPR in enabling local innovators and artisans to commercialize their products and compete at national and global levels.
Under Secretary IDAN, I Changsang, highlighted Nagaland’s rich indigenous knowledge, traditional craftsmanship, and agro-based products as valuable intellectual capital. He underscored the need to protect and document such resources through IP frameworks, citing examples like Naga Mircha and Chakhesang Shawls as products with global recognition potential.
The first day featured technical sessions and panel discussions on innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology transfer, including presentations on linking IP with MSME growth, exploring opportunities in the agro, handloom, and food processing sectors, and strategies for converting ideas into industrial applications.
The Yatra is expected to equip participants with practical knowledge on IPR, innovation, and modern technology adoption, helping local entrepreneurs and youth contribute to economic growth and sustainable development in Nagaland.
