National Mathematics Day held at Little Flower Hr Sec school Kohima

Mathematics day in continuation of the National Mathematics Day celebration 2024, was held at the auditorium of Little Flower HrSec school on Tuesday. Fourteen schools namely Little Flower HrSec school, Azedon school, Chandmari school, Corragio school, Charity school, Holy family Hr Sec school, Dainty Buds, Mezhiir Hr Sec school, Minister’s Hill Baptist Hr Sec school, StMary Cathedral Hr Sec school, The Vineyard school, Model Hr Sec school, Razhiikhrie Govt Hr Sec school and Christ King HrSec school actively participated in the event.

Keynote speaker DrNesatalu Hiese, scientist ‘D’ NASTEC, Govt of Nagaland shared a brief history of NMD, she also said its main aim is to inspire students and researchers, to explore and create awareness about the relevance of mathematics. The theme reflects the essence of mathematics ‘To embrace math… not just a subject but a way how NASTEC and DOST are doing so much to create a sense of interest in math and science with incentives.

Guest speaker Dr Aronthung S Odyuo said in his speech that mathematics helps us to think critically with the questions ‘why’, ‘which’ in turn leads to innovation.

The students participated in math- related quiz competition and model-display contest. Quiz competition was bagged by Little Flower Hr. Sec school and Mezhiir Hr. Sec school as the runners up.
The Model- display contest which required students to create innovative models using mathematical concepts was bagged by Minister’s Hill Baptist Hr. Sec school and Dainty Buds as the runners up.

Teisovi Gerard Meyase, Asst Professor and controller of examinations Kohima Science college judged the Model display contest.

The event was organized and supported by NASTEC, dept of Science and Technology and hosted by Little Flower Hr. Sec School Kohima.
