A National Science Day programme was organised by the Science Club, comprising all science departments of Dimapur Government College (DGC), at the college seminar hall on February 28, 2026. The programme was funded by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the college.

Speaking at the programme, Dr T Tiakaba Jamir, Principal of DGC, said the event would be remembered as the first major programme organised by the Science Club. He noted that the members were the first batch of students from the science stream and highlighted that National Science Day is observed to mark the discovery of the Raman Effect by Nobel laureate CV Raman. Emphasising environmental concerns, he underscored the responsibility of the scientific community in protecting the environment and encouraged students to aim high and work diligently for excellence.

The resource person, Er Modozho Mathew Dukru, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, delivered a talk on the theme “Women in Science: Catalysing Viksit Bharat.” He highlighted the role of women in science in achieving India’s development goals by 2047 and acknowledged the contributions of women scientists in the country. He stressed the need to bridge gender gaps, particularly in rural areas, and said that with adequate support, women in Nagaland could contribute significantly to sustainable development and innovation.
