Mokokchung, August 26 (MTNews):A consultative Meeting on National Viral Hepatitis Control Program (NVHCP) was held at the IDSP Conference Hall, IMDH Mokokchung on 25 August, 2022.

 

 

In welcoming the attendees, Dr. Limatula Aier, Chief Medical Officer, Mokokchung noted that with a vision to reach and achieve the goals of Viral Hepatitis Elimination by 2030, she sought collaboration and support to highlight the problems in effectively implementing the program.

 

Dr. Partha Rakshit, Deputy Director, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, presented the National Viral Hepatitis Control Program, which was inaugurated in July 2018 with the aim of preventing and controlling viral hepatitis in India and achieving the elimination goal by 2030.

 

He urged that the public be made aware of the free testing and treatment facilities available for Hepatitis patients, as well as to increase Community Awareness on Hepatitis by emphasizing preventive measures, early diagnosis, and management of Viral Hepatitis at all levels of Health Care Facilities, in order to reduce the risk and mortality due to Hepatitis.

 

He also stated that Hepatitis B Immune Globuline (HBIg) will be made available to new born children of Hepatitis B positive mothers. He emphasized that trainings should be operationalized at laboratories and treatment centres and to develop capacities of functionaries in CHC, PHC and H&WC to implement diagnostic and treatment support.

 

Chief Medical Officer Dy. Chief Medical Officer, Medical Superintendent, Program Officers, DAPCU, Nurses, and IEC Staffs attended the program.
