Mokokchung, 29 July (MTNews): In the wake of the tumultuous events unfolding in Manipur for the past 12 weeks and counting, the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) has raised serious allegations against the Manipur Government and the Central Authority for employing delay tactics in addressing the crisis that has left the state burning and bleeding.
“If justice delayed is justice denied, what do we call the tactics the Manipur Government and the authority at the center are playing in spite of Manipur burning and bleeding for the last 12 weeks and counting? Why are they not bothered to take any serious steps to bind the wounds inflicted?” the NBCC asked.
“Could it be true that what happened in Manipur almost three months ago is a well-planned execution of a certain political and religious group in the nation against a certain religion and ethnic group in the region? The authorities at this time cannot just be silent on the pretext that they are collecting evidence. What more evidence do the authorities need when human-naked eyes have seen all?” the NBCC added.
The NBCC, on behalf of the Christian community in the region expressed grave concern over the prolonged silence and lack of decisive actions from the authorities in response to the horror and violence inflicted upon innocent civilians and religious minorities in Manipur.

The NBCC also accused both the Manipur Government and the Central Government of becoming enemies of justice by failing to promptly address the crisis. The Nagaland Baptist Church Council further outlined three critical demands in response to the crisis.
Firstly, justice must be served, and equal protection must be guaranteed to all citizens, regardless of their religious affiliations. Secondly, India must cease exploiting the tribal properties under the pretext of development, as this further exacerbates tensions in the region. Lastly, the NBCC insists that the authorities must take swift and appropriate action to hold those responsible for the senseless killings and rapes accountable, ensuring that justice is served in accordance with the nation’s laws.
