Eligible beneficiaries urged to avail welfare schemes

Mokokchung, September 26 (MTNews): The Nagaland Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (NBOCWWB) conducted an awareness campaign and field registration campaign at Grace Garden, Alempang Ward, Mokokchung on Monday with Tongpang Ozukum, Minister of PWD (Housing & Mechanical) in attendance.

 

In a brief exhortation, Tongpang Ozukum praised the department for extending out to the masses and assisting them in registering on the site through a ‘Special Registration Drive’. Further, he said that the NBOCWWB is a beautiful and admirable government initiative and urged the people to apply for and benefit from the scheme to the fullest extent possible.

 

He added that the awareness campaign has helped many naive workers see the advantages of the many available programs.
Ozukum stated that each beneficiary would receive Rs. 2000 immediately upon registration, and that each beneficiary’s two children would get Rs. 500 each monthly as financial aid for their education (Children Educational Allowance).

 

The department is assisting in informing the public and ensuring that the government’s welfare schemes reach all eligible beneficiaries, according to Dr. Kekhrie Yhome, Chairman of the NBOCWWB. Additionally, he said that Mokokchung is a major regional hub since it serves the requirements of the surrounding districts and added that the department’s goal is to connect with all of Nagaland’s 1280 villages and raise awareness of NBOCWWB.

 

Tongpang Ozukum and Kekhrie Yhome

 

T. Chubayanger, CEO, NBOCWWB, the program’s chairman, gave a detailed overview of the welfare scheme to the attendees present for field registration and advised them to contact the regional office or the department if any questions arose.

 

Earlier, the welcome note was addressed by Alempang ward Chairman, Lemasashi while the vote of thanks was proposed by Merensosang Jamir, Longmisa village council Chairman and ABC Pastor Rev. Dr. Temsu S said the invocation.

 

The formal program was followed by the distribution of publicity materials and interaction and registration of participants.

 

 

Schemes offered by NBOCWWB

 

Tool Grant

On successfully registering into the Scheme, Rs. 2000 as grant for purchase of tools will be automatically credited in the beneficiary’s account annually, subject to renewal of registration.

 

Life Insurance

The Scheme PMJJBY (Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana) & PMSBY (Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana) is a one year cover term Life Insurance Scheme renewal from year to year, offering life insurance cover for death due to any reason. The beneficiary gets insurance cover under PMJJBY and PMSBY through Life Insurance Corporation of India. The annual premium is paid by the Welfare Board on behalf of the beneficiaries.

 

Medical Assistance

Financial assistance of Rs.1000 per day for the first five days and Rs. 500 per day for the next 10 days on continuous hospitalization is provided to registered beneficiaries, spouse and children as medical assistance.
Procedure for application: The beneficiary should submit an application to the Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC) Office with details of Admission and Discharge summary issued by the Medical Officer of the Hospital.

 

Children Education Allowance

Two child of the beneficiary studying from Nursery to Class 10 will be provided Rs.500 scholarship per child, per month as children education assistance, subject to renewal of application for every academic session.

How to apply: Obtain application form from ALC office, fill the details such as Regd. No., Bank Account No., and details of the child and get it certified in the appropriate column from the Head of the school in which the child is studying (Certification from only the head of the school will be accepted). Copies of relevant pages of Cumulative Records of the child should be sealed and signed by the Head of the School in which the child is studying and should be submitted at the Office of the Assistant Labour Commissioner of the respective district.

 

Maternity Benefit for Women Beneficiaries

Maternity benefit of Rs. 6000 per pregnancy (Subject to a maximum of two times) will be provided to the wives of registered beneficiaries and women registered beneficiaries. Process for application: The beneficiary should submit an application to the ALC Office with details of Admission and Discharge summary issued by the Medical Officer of the Hospital where the baby was delivered. For home delivery cases, a combined certificate from the Chairperson of the Village Health Committee and VCC should be enclosed. Copy of Birth Certificate of the baby is mandatory with the application in both cases.
