Kohima, 18 May (MTNews): Chairperson of the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE), Asano Sekhose, said that the focus of the learning process today should be on making students learn the fundamentals, achieve conceptual clarity, and develop critical and analytical thinking skills. She was addressing the 50-year celebration of Chandmari Higher Secondary School, Kohima, today.

Sekhose underscored that the education imparted to students should help them learn with understanding, and the knowledge they acquire should become practical and applicable in achieving their goals. She maintained that education is meant to develop the innate abilities of an individual while being a continuous process of growth, and pointed out that NEP 2020 envisions a transformational shift in the education system.

Observing that the world is witnessing rapid changes in every field, along with various confronting challenges, she urged the social institution to channelize efforts to educate and train students to face these future challenges. In this regard, she also asserted the need to create a conducive environment that cultivates a genuine thirst for knowledge and encouraged students to explore their passions naturally.

Sekhose also urged the school to strive for excellence, embrace innovation, and continue nurturing young minds with compassion and care. Earlier, a monolith to commemorate the occasion was unveiled by Rev. Dr. Meyu Changkiri, Pastor of Ao Baptist Church, Shillong.
