Kohima, 8 January (MTNews): In a significant stride towards enhancing the quality of education and embracing technological advancements, the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) has officially announced the introduction of Smart Textbooks for Mathematics and Social Sciences subjects for Classes IX and X for the academic session of 2024.

The NBSE has notified all heads of registered institutions and stakeholders about this pioneering initiative, emphasizing the incorporation of QR Code technology to foster engaging and interactive learning experiences for students. The Smart Textbooks are designed to provide comprehensive access to supplementary learning materials through the innovative use of QR Codes.

These textbooks feature separate QR Codes printed for each topic, sub-topic, activities, examples, and questions given in the exercises. By scanning these QR Codes, students gain complete access to video explanations related to the specific content, enabling them to reinforce their understanding anytime, anywhere. This initiative is geared towards creating a dynamic and flexible learning environment for students, while simultaneously empowering teachers with additional resources to enhance their teaching methods.

The introduction of Smart Textbooks aligns with the objectives outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, aiming to effectively integrate technology into the curriculum. The incorporation of QR Code technology is expected to not only develop digital literacy among students but also enhance their conceptual clarity, preparing them for a technology-driven future where proficiency in both digital skills and subject knowledge is crucial for success.
