Mokokchung, 14 October (MTNews): The Nagaland Cricket Association has declared the Senior Men’s squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023-24. The 15-member squad will be led by Jonathan Rongsen as the captain and Hokaito Zhimomi as the deputy and includes three guest players:

The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy is a premier domestic T20 cricket championship organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) among the teams from the Ranji Trophy. It is named after Indian former test cricketer Syed Mushtaq Ali.

The 2006-2007 inaugural season of this trophy was won by Tamil Nadu under the captaincy of Dinesh Karthik, and Rohit Sharma scored the first ever T20 century by an Indian in the T20 format, in it.

The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy is one of the most important domestic cricket tournaments in India. It is played in a group stage followed by a knockout stage. The tournament serves as a platform for young players to showcase their talent and earn a place in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Mumbai is the current champion, which beat Himachal in the finals, and Tamil Nadu is the most successful team of the tournament, winning it thrice.
